Before you
bring
your new kitten home, think carefully about the possible hazards in your home. These
include electrical wires, candles, fireplaces,
cigarettes, irons, washing machines, rubbish bins, sharp utensils, plastic bags,
open cupboards and
drawers, high balconies, small toys, detergents,
cleaning products and poisonous plants.
A small kitten can find their way into surprising places, so
please be careful to keep dangerous objects out of range.
Cats are very curious by nature and my own experience with my cats is
to keep plasic bags away from them. Kittens and Cats will go into plastic bags,
this may be amusing from the owners point of view, but if the cat
is frightened in any way there is a possibility of the cats head getting
caught in the handle section of the plastic bag, which would have tragic
consequences.

Your Ragdoll Kitten will follow you everywhere so you must be very
careful you do not stand on it during the first few weeks, it will let you get
on with what you are doing, but it will be right behind you watching you most of
the time.

Also the plastic tye on some black sacks, kittens love to chew
and this would get entangled around their inner organs. Paper bags are loved
by many cats and are far less dangerous than the plastic ones.
Please keep in mind that many commonly used cat toys such as yarn, string, rubber bands,
alumuninium foil and cellophane can be dangerous if they
are accidently swallowed. Your Kitten should only play with such objects with
your full supervision.
Please remember
your Kitten cannot judge what is safe and what is not, it will need your help
Kittens just do not see danger.
